Toyosu Senkyaku Banrai is a new 24-hour onsen resort located in the artificial island of Toyosu, near Odaiba. Known for being the home of the largest wholesale fish market in Tokyo, which moved here in 2018 from its previous location in Tsukiji. This new tourist attraction will surely be a hit with both locals and foreigners looking for a glimpse into the glorious past of the samurai period. Here comes a gigantic Edo-period themed onsen park to Tokyo.

The Manyo Club company will inaugurate yet another multi-level shopping and entertainment center in Tokyo. Drawing inspiration from Oedo Onsen Monogatari, an Edo-themed onsen park that was located in Odaiba and closed in 2021, the new facility will consist of two distinct sections: a commercial wing, the Toyosu Offsite Edomae Market, and a “Super Sento”, or a large Japanese public bath, called Tokyo Toyosu Manyo Club.

The commercial part will spread over three levels, for a surface area of about 14,700 square meters. It will be built using traditional materials such as the Mikage stone from the island of Awaji and wood from the Tama region. It will have all the ancient charm of the Edo period streets, reconstructed in detail. Visitors will be able to eat at the numerous sushi and fresh fish restaurants of the nearby Toyosu market. In addition to other traditional Japanese dishes such as ramen, tempura, and robatayaki skewers.

The section dedicated to the enormous nine-story spa complex plus one additional underground level, will extend over about 19,000 square meters. It will have a large outdoor pool filled with water directly from the Hakone-Yugawara hot springs. In addition to various types of pools, waterfalls, a massage center, saunas, and other spa treatments, but in traditional Japanese onsen style.

One of the most popular experiences for tourists at the old Oedo Onsen Monogatari was being able to wander around in a yukata, a light kimono, in the various areas of the complex. Provided at the time of taking the waterproof bracelet with the locker keys.

Of course, being a Japanese onsen in Tokyo, if you have large or numerous tattoos, you may not be allowed in. To avoid any “bounce”, if you have large tattoos, bring special breathable flesh-colored adhesive tapes.

Another distinctive area, also present in the old Oedo Onsen Monogatari that I visited personally before it closed, is the outdoor area. A panoramic Japanese garden on the 9th floor with a Kneipp path, or rounded stones immersed in cold water that is good to walk on. And tanks with cleaning fish that tickle you but also give you a pedicure. From this terrace there is also a breathtaking 360° view of the waterfront.

As if that weren’t enough, this enormous Super Sento will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Offering the opportunity for visitors to choose the least crowded times, perhaps if they are jet-lagged tourists! Toyosu Senkyaku Banrai will open soon, on February 1, 2024. So if you are planning a spring trip to Tokyo, you will find it! For more information, here is the website of the facility.

Toyosu Senkyaku Banrai is a new and exciting addition to the Tokyo tourist scene. It offers a unique opportunity to experience the traditional Japanese onsen culture in a modern setting. Whether you are a local or a visitor, this resort is sure to be a relaxing and enjoyable experience.
